PS on Rabaul - people who went on the other tour saw a totally different place - just goes to show that you shouldn’t draw conclusions from a brief visit!

Right now going by Guam and not too far from Kwajalein - both places that were just names to me before. It’s 80.9 degrees F at 11:45 pm! 8-ft waves means we’re rocking and rolling again. For Bill: 12 degrees 35.79N and 145 degrees 58.43 E. Earlier this evening we passed over the Mariana Trench, which is believed to be the deepest area of ocean anywhere in the world - 5.9 nautical miles deep.

On board for Sydney to Singapore segment: 598 Australians, 465 UK, 391 US, 84 Canadian, 57 German. 30 countries represented by passengers. total passengers: 1762.

Tomorrow Saipan, capital of the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Whoa! I had no idea you were doing this! Spectacular!

I'm extraordinarily jealous. I left GW last year and went to nursing school. I'm finishing up now, so reading your tales of warm exotic locations while stuck in a dark cold hospital is very welcome. Enjoy, you deserve it.

Have fun in Saipan today!

Interested in your take on Saipan. Chris' dad was a corpsman attached to the 5th Marine Division and saw some really nasty stuff there - although he did not share much.

So glad you are there under better conditions! If you do this trip again, I'll be glad to carry your bags.

Hi Lois,
Talked to Fred today and he said that he received your post card. He wasn't aware of your cruise around the world so he was surprised to hear from you. I gave him all the info to access your blog and photo gallery.

Speaking of the photo gallery, my new pastime at lunch during the week is checking out the photo gallery for the new postings. For some reason I am not able to access the gallery from my home computer. I have an old system that apparantly doesn't have the required software.

I especially liked your photos of the rainforest and the volcanic eruption. It sure looked like a cacao tree on one of the photos.

It looks like you will be on the open ocean for the next 3 days on your way to Nagasaki.

Winter is due to make a return here tommorrow. A major snow storm is coming up the east coast and it looks like we'll get something out of it starting tomorrow morning.

Happy sailing,
Dan
