South Korea

Over 20,100 nautical miles from New York and traveling 56 days so far.
Left South Korea last evening after a day trip from the city of Pusan (Busan) into the mountains where we visited the “Buddha-revered temple” of Tongdosa. Clear, cool air - quite a change from the tropics. This visit coincided with the March 5-7th “ceremony of receiving the percepts of Buddhism,” which is a major event for the temple. The “Tong-do temple was founded by Ja-Jang Monk in Sil-la-Dynasty (BC 646).” It is now a vast complex of structures built by a mountain stream

South Korea impressed me with its modern city coexisting with ancient cultures - had a great tour guide on the bus - you’ll see Choi’s picture on the web gallery. Also, Busan is the 5th largest container port in the world and seems to be busy building ships as well.

On to Shanghai.

Dear Lois,
If I have it correct, you have 20 more ports of call. Your itinerary is right here on my desk as I follow your travels. It has been such fun for me to "travel" with you during this endless winter. We did have a springlike weekend with temperatures in the 70's. Rain and colder weather are on the way.
Craig and Heather are expecting their second baby. We are all excited about a new little life in the Stouffer clan.
We worry about Dean who is still in Kandahar, Afghanistan. We had Sloane with us for a week and we miss that little ray of sunshine. We will not see the "girls" until the Fall when we hope to make a trip to Florida.
After this world cruise, any trip you take in the future will seem like a walk in the park!! How will you ever come back to cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, etc.???? You have miles to go before you need even think about that!

Love,
Deanna
