Viet Nam and Thailand

Internet expensive, therefore shorter, fewer blogs. Days flying by. Nha Trang very much a resort town. Ho Chi Minh City still reflects the style of Saigon; Continental Hotel still there (as in the Quiet American by Graham Greene). Thailand a delight - especially the Elephant Sanctuary near Pattaya. Took the opportunity to ride bareback on an elephant as she went into the stream - really fun! Now en route to Singapore. Thunderstorm at sea this morning. Started reading Forster’s Passage to India as we work our way there. Hard to comprehend how fast we are going through these countries - just a quick visit but at least they will no longer just be places on a map to me.

Lois, I can hardly wait to see the picture of one of my favorite Democrats riding a real elephant - of all things!! Any donkeys along the way?? Glad you are continuing to enjoy this wonderful world tour!

Back here winter is conceding to spring which begins Friday!

Take good care and play hard!

Lois,
Looking forward to seeing your photos from Singapore. Hershey just purchased the Van Houten chocolate and confectionery company based in Singapore so I'll probably be making a trip to Singapore in the not too distant future.

From what I've read, they have one of the most strict law enforcement policies in the world and still practice public caning of law breakers, even for relatively minor offenses. Be careful!

Happy sightseeing in Singapore,
Dan
